100amp car battery, how to test its sulfuric acid and water mixture without a hydrometer?

i am using a 100amp lead acid car battery (not deep cycle) on a ups to power up my computer, the ups charges the battery using a two stage cycle and cuts of the charge when the battery is fully changed. when the battery was new it used to give me 4 hours backup time, now after a year its only giving me an hour at best. i am pretty sure that i dont have a dead cell in the battery because the battery does not lose its charge on its own, the problem is that it loses its charged more quickly than when it was new.

anyway i have bought a new battery but i still want to see if i can save the old 100amp battery that i have, so how do i test the mixture in it and if the 35/65 mixture has been upset how do i restore the mixture, do i need to change the mixture altogether or can i do something like force charge it for an hour on 15 volts DC to get the sulfuric acid of the plates.100amp car battery, how to test its sulfuric acid and water mixture without a hydrometer? These batteries have a limited lifespan. The fact you are using a non-deep cycle battery in a what is basically a deep-cycle application is probably why it's failing. There is no way to test specific gravity without a hygrometer.
