Is my car battery almost dead?

I'm not sure how long I've had it. 2 weeks ago, I brought the car to the mechanic to change tires. He also cleaned the corrosion foo the battery (now there is that red substance on the terminal, I'm guessing it's to keep them from getting corroded again). Anyway, since they cleaned remove the corrosion (I'm not sure how much was on it), it's the third time that I cannot start it (the last 2 times, I just had to turn the key on off position, then turn it back on, and it was ok), but now, the car doesn't want to start at all, nothing works except for the radio works off and on and the digital mileage on the dashboard. Is my car battery almost dead?sounds like he may have not tightend thim goodIs my car battery almost dead?It may be that the part of the terminal that connects to the wire may need cleaned out as well.I'm not sure on your car if it comes apart, but replacement terminals are cheap and easy to install just in case they don't.If your battery had alot of crud on it, chances are theres some in the terminals where you can't see it as well.Is my car battery almost dead? The battery should have a date on it. Either, manufactured date or capacity date (approx life end date). Just like food, when in doubt throw it out! If it was a good battery and not old at all, the other possibility is that your alternator is going out or is bad. The alternator charges your battery. Also make sure the Battery cables are properly tightend and you have a good ground, check the ground cable to the chasis. Is my car battery almost dead?clean the battery terminal connections metal to metal. i've seen people spray the red stuff on before connecting. i can't see how it works. Is my car battery almost dead?well for starters try unconnecting and reconnecting the terminal wires. Is my car battery almost dead?check the battery cable connections. sounds like they are not tight enough. Is my car battery almost dead?you probably need new ends on the battery cables. with all that corrode they are probably ate up.
