Why doesn't my car steering wheel work for my ps2?

I bought a steering wheel for a game on the ps2 a couple of years ago. Ive only used it a few times and it no longer works ive changed the batteries all sorts can any one tell me how to get it working again. Why doesn't my car steering wheel work for my ps2?i would take it a game shop and see what they say.

Car mechanics help...?

Well, I took my car to a mechanic shop to do a check up because I'm planning a long trip. I've never went there before but found the place on yelp. Their reviews aren't bad, just not reviewed by many. Anyways, I called them up and asked how much it was for a car checkup and they wouldn't say until I insisted on knowing. The answer was that the check up is free but they don't know the cost until they know whats wrong.

Free? Sounds good, so I went there. Upon my arrival one of the mechanics approached, signal me for the keys and simply drove off... Turns out that he was checking out the car by driving. Could of told me but I guess it's no biggie. Then they lift the hood and told me I need an oil change. I said %26quot;How much?%26quot; and they replied %26quot;$25%26quot; (Others on yelp said it was $20). No biggie I guess but I use synthetic so I told them I was asking for the synthetic oil change price. They told me it was $60 and if I want to do it, I have to decide quick. I agreed to the oil change even though I knew I still have around 2000 miles (synthetic lasts 5000-7000 miles right?)

While they were changing oil they told me that the two engine belts (while looking under the car) seems worn and need to be replaced, they estimate it would cost $70-$80. (Does that seem right? It's an Infiniti FX45). I asked, what does the belt do, is it dangerous to not replace it now...etc. He answered something about steering, air con, and battery. So I said my car failed to start a few times. He checked my battery and then told me I need to replace it by showing me a piece of paper I don't understand (I recall it was 120v or something, not sure...). Out of fear that my car would die on me on the long trip, I said %26quot;Ok...and how much is that?%26quot; I was quoted $90 for an interstate battery and told me it was better than my factory original battery. I agreed again.

NOW this is the part that got me upset. They took the battery cover and the surrounding rubber off ok. They took the old battery out. ok. Then they put a small machine with something like a hot metal poker near the battery holding place and...BURNED THE METAL surround it (where the rubber battery cover would be put on). I even saw smoke! They saw that I saw and they act like nothing happened. I didn't know what to say or do, I just stood there. Minutes pass by as they attempt to put on the battery and the owner said to me %26quot;I should charge you more becuase the batttery is so hard to install%26quot; and I finally replied %26quot;You burnt my car%26quot;. They all laughed and the owner said %26quot;It's nothing, I'll put the rubber on it%26quot;. I got upset and told the owner %26quot;You can't expect to just burn my car and ask me to drive it home%26quot;. He insisted it was no big deal. I didn't know what to do.

The installment was done, I went to his office, he came and gave me the keys and charged me $150 for the oil change and battery (is it cheap or a rip off? I dunno) and I told him again, he should fix the burn. He told me to come again cuz now he is closed. He said he will put some paint or something on it when I come. I dunno, after the battery incident I have no faith in either yelp or these mechanics anymore. I feel bullied becuase from the minute I arrived till the minute I leave they were never very friendly.

Sorry for my long description. Let me know of your thoughts or if you're knowledgeable about cars and you find something wrong, tell me. A few questions:

1. Interstate battery is good battery, better than fx 45's original?

2. Interstate battery for $90 is a fair price or not?

3. How do I know if they filled up on my oil or just gave me some and charged me $60?

4. $60 cheap or expensive for a synthetic oil change?

5. The two belts, if replaced should be how much?

The FX45 is 2003. Thanks.

6. The burnt metal, how much is it to replace it?

I will try to award more points, if you let me know how to do that.

Thanks!

The burnt on the metal (to describe it, it looks like a cigarette burn)... I dunno, I feel like a coward for not really doing anything about it but I don't know what to do!! Is it a big deal? I dunno...Car mechanics help...?okay let me address the burnt metal what probably happened was that the nut zert was stuck and broke and they welded a new nut (which was the smoke and fire) for a new battery hold down or reused the old one the hole happens with welding sometimes because battery boxes usually rust out underneath (if it bothers you buy a new battery box bottom but dont watch because all the torch and welding work would make you nervous just put spray paint on the weld and dont worry)but as far as the rest you probably got a fair price ,interstate is better than the original .belts can be as much as $100 a peice and synthetic is 6.99 and up a quart takes 5 quarts plus filter and labor

hope this helpsCar mechanics help...?%26gt; Free? Sounds good,

It is NEVER free. They ALWAYS find something wrong. Don't get me wrong, there's usually something wrong anyway.

=====

%26gt; Then they put a small machine with something like a hot metal

%26gt; poker near the battery

If you saw a spark, it is usually not a big deal. Sometimes when they put the jumper cables (to charge a new battery), they cause a spark.

But without EXACT description, I can't really say exactly what it was. But it sounds like a spark from the jumper cable.

Besides ALL the repair costs, I don't think your car was damaged.

====

1. Interstate battery is good battery, better than fx 45's original?

They are about equal quality. I think some of the BEST are Sears Die Hard. Me and my budds swear by them

====

2. Interstate battery for $90 is a fair price or not?

Sounds kind of expensive.

====

3. How do I know if they filled up on my oil or just gave me some and charged me $60?

Check the dip stick. The oil stays clean for about 5 to 10 miles. After that the oil LOOK dirty (but still clean). But you shouldn't worry too much. They almost NEVER cheat you on this. They don't want to be responsible for engine damage. If they want to, they can easily cheat you MORE money else where.

====

4. $60 cheap or expensive for a synthetic oil change?

About $0 to $20 on the expensive side. Certainly no DEAL

====

5. The two belts, if replaced should be how much?

Can't say.

====

6. The burnt metal, how much is it to replace it?

What is this BURNT metal exactly? Can't say unless you give better description OR a picture somewhere. If it is NOT part of the outer body (paint job), I would not lose any sleep over it.

Good luck........Car mechanics help...?PRICES AREN'T TOO BAD, BUT I'D CHALK IT UP TO EXPERIENCE AND STAY CLEAR OF THAT PLACE. AND TO REWARD THEIR FRIENDLY STAFF, TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE SO THEY WON'T HAVE TO ENDURE THE SAME THINGS AS YOU DID. YOU MAY WANT TO ADD THE NAME OF THIS FRIENDLY PLACE HERE AS WELL.Car mechanics help...?1. There is only one car battery manufacturer on the planet. The sell it to the distributors and they put their logo on it. Interstate is not better, its the same damn battery.

2. A little high, but you got an Infinity so i hope money aint a huge issue.

3. If its a clean almost clear gold color, its new.

4. Again, a little high, but shops always rape you on prices.

5. About $20 per belt, labor should be very small. Probably should get out the door (parts labor and tax) for $75.

6. Have no clue wtf the burnt metal is, sorry cant help you there, I didnt see what they did.Car mechanics help...?Interstate battery cost 46.00 bucks where i live.Car mechanics help...?the prices seem fairCar mechanics help...?Well, first of all there is more than 1 battery manufacturer on the planet. Where do people get this stuff? $90 is rather steep for an Interstate battery. They are pretty much run of the mill batteries that most mechanics shops use. If they welded something they should have told you that a metal part broke and they were going to have to weld it. I doubt that you needed an oil change. One can not tell by looking under the hood, it goes by mileage and modern cars can go 5k on an oil change. It's irresponsible to change oil - expensive synthetic oil - when it doesn't need it. The belts? %26quot;dangerous not to replace now%26quot; that's the oldest trick in the book. You need to know what to look for to determine worn belts, cracks develop in the underside where the little ridges are. Did they even show the old ones? You also need to know how old the belts are and how much mileage there are on them. Get a little book and keep track of this stuff, it's worth it. Quite frankly I doubt that your car needed any of this stuff. Their attitude is a big thumbs down too. I'd go on yelp (whatever that is) and leave a bad review. Personally I check with %26quot;mechan - x files%26quot; from the cartalk.com site on the rare occasions when I encounter an automotive problem that I can't take care of myself. Don't go back to that place unless it's to complain and demand compensation to paint damaged by welding - they should have put down welding blankets to shield paintwork and other parts from sparks.

  • My automatic car will not shift at all! 10pts!!!?

    I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. I took my car to the transmission shop on Monday. My car was starting out in 3rd gear instead of first. He said it was a bad range sensor. He fixed it and no more codes showed up on the diagnostic machine. He also said he didn't see anything else wrong, but something was still not right with the shifting. He just couldn't figure out what it was.

    My battery was dead...he told me to go to autozone and get a new battery and that could fix it. He said with the battery dead it could have caused the new range sensor to short circuit? This mechanic felt bad and didn't charge me labor. He's very honest and good.

    My car drove fine and seemed to be fixed after the battery change. Then yesterday I noticed it was hard to shift from park to reverse and to drive. This evening I stopped at the store on my way home. While in the store parking lot I could not get my car out of park.

    I called my dad who was far away...told me to get someone to push the car while I try to shift. I did that and it didn't work. Some guy pushed and shook my car and used force to shift and it would not leave park.

    I called roadside assistance and now my car is parked out front.

    I can't afford the mechanic til I get paid next Wed. My dad knows how to fix cars. However, he is an old time mechanic and is not that familiar with all the electronic and electrical stuff in cars. He can look up stuff and try to figure out the problem and fix it.

    He thought by the sound of this that something is stuck. He told me what the something is...but I don't remember. He said that sometimes happens when on a hill and pushing the car fixes that...only I wasn't on a hill. Do you know what he's talking about?

    He is going to try to look up some possibilities and talk to some of his mechanic friends. They are all airplane mechanics.

    I just thought I'd check here and see if anyone has any ideas? Please explain a little as to why you think your idea could be the problem. I would like my dad to fix it this weekend so I have my car for work on Monday. My dad can fix anything...he just can't always diagnose things. I don't want him spending the whole weekend and have my car torn apart.

    No codes are showing up either. check engine light is NOT on.

    Please give me something to go on and I will have him check those specific things out.

    My job is 80% travel and really can't go that long without my car. I choose an economic car due to my amount of traveling to save on fuel.My automatic car will not shift at all! 10pts!!!?Here is a site with a bunch of things to try.

    I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?

    Right after jumping it, it sputtered and when accelerating it felt robbed for power after a few minutes it got up to speed and shifted into 2nd gear and it ran perfect. I drove it straight home turned it off then statred it up again to see if it would sputter it didn't. Next morning I went to start it up it wouldn't even crank and when I cheaked the oil it had almost two quarts extra in it (I had it changed at a reputable auto shop) and the radiator was empty (there didn't appear to be any water in the oil). Does anyone have a idea what might be the problem and how much it's gonna cost me.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?The two extra quarts of oil probablly came from a squished oil pan, or from coolant somehow getting into the oil system, oil floats on water , and if you damaged your pan the oil pickup might not have been working. Basically the motor is probablly trash. Since there is no coolant in the system, your car was not cooling, which means that your motor is likely locked up.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Could be ignition switch????I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?2 quarts extra? your gonna blow the valvesI jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Take it to your car dealer, and simply ask them what's wrong and how much it will cost to fix it. Then decide what you want to do. You get expensive expert advice that way and can compare with an independent shop's diagnosis. The first thing to realize is that neither you or I have been trained to repair automobiles, so it's the %26quot;blind leading the blind%26quot; if I tell you what to do other than to seek professional help.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?I need to know what kind of car , what year?I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Could be a bad solenoid, alternator, starter or ignition

    may cost from $40 to $500 to fix (or diagnose)I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?you blow the headgasket. i am 100% positive!!!! if you need more info e-mail me jeffchai@yahoo.com give me the year make and model i can give you a price on how much it would cost to fix itI jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Oil Floats on top of water. Your antifreeze is in the block which raised your oil level. If you drain the oil, you will see the antifreeze come out.

    Sounds like you seized your motor. You may also want to check the oil pan, you may of crushed it in the jump.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?It's possible your starter could be getting ready to go out.

    Maybe the cillinoid or wiresI jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Sounds to me like a blown head gasket, take it to someone you trust and have them do a compression test...I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Check the oil carefully and see if there is any type of foamyness to it. this will tell you if there is water in the oil.

    Sounds like your head gaskets are blown.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?Have you tried disconnecting the terminals from the battery? At times the problem could be from the alternator that is failing and the car might be running on the battery alone. Check it out... If its an older model car like mine (1987 pontiac) do that..If its a newer car I cannot help you there.. best of luckI jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?It could be the engine is locked up from what they call vapor lock meaning that there is coolant in the cylinders and since you can not compress a liquid well the engine wont turn over that coolant had to go somewhere. Check your ignition as well and fuel pump. Pull a spark plug, then plug that spark plug into the wire you had to remove have someone crank to see if there is any spark coming from the ignition system if so then thats fine then to check the pump open the gas filler door have someone turn the key with out cranking the engine and see if you hear a noise if you hear a noise then your fuel system is good. If you have issues with the spark then you will have to trace it back to the coil or distributor. If the fuel pump well then you will be replacing the pump.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?sounds like sabotage. two extra quarts in the oil? and no water in the radiator?

    but to get to the battery problem, you probably need a new alternator. this is the unit that re charges the batteries as you drive the car.

    remove some oil by loosening the oil pan drain bolt, it will be on the bottom of the oil pan not around the sides,

    when you put water ion radiator your going to need to run the car sop the water level will fill to the right depth. water has to get past the thermostat which opens at a certain temperature, then pass into the block.

    when you get if full, check you hoses for leaks and cracks.

    if you pull the dip stick and if it looks like foamy whitish on the stick that would be evidence of water in the oil.

    the loss of power could have been the over amount of oil,

    the alternator is the problem with the batteries.I jumped my car and now even with a new battery it won't crank?bet you any money its your alternator.

    Is it Normal for Car's battery to get flat in less time?

    I own a Honda Prelude 91, I recently changed to a brand new big battery to go with, Previous battery went flat very short time,

    Now the battery was going fine until Last week I didnt use the car for like 4 days or a week or so, They battry is Flat, is it normal?

    If not what can be the problem?

I think it cost me 45.00. I have the code now, I know where it is and I'm not going through that again.

    Electrical problem with car?

    I have 02 hyundai elantra. Recently I left my lights running over night and drained my BATTERY. A guy on the road tried to give me a jump start. One of us, messed up and jumped it wrong resulting into fumes from wires and failure to start the car. It was towed to garage, and they repaired it by changing batteries and some electrical work. It costed me some $400. Now, I haven't worked with this guys before and I found bill little expensive.

    I recently realized that my break lights and high beam don't work on both sides. The garage wants me to get the car back there and find the fault. There is no estimate. I am on budget. Does any one have any idea, what could be wrong? how much it should cost?Electrical problem with car?400.00 Isn't bad for electrical problems. The problem with wiring problems is you have no idea where the problem is. That's what takes so much time. It might be an easy fix, sometimes its not. MANY repair shops charge electrical work by the hour and not flat rate like most jobs. I believe 400 is fair, depending on how long it took them to find it. Now with that said- it might cost you more than that to fix you're other light problem. Sorry, electrical sucks!Electrical problem with car?Anything to do with electrical work can be expensive. There is now way to really give an proper estimate on wiring, it's all by the hour,it could take 5 minutes or 5 hours. Take the car back to how started working on it, they might have an idea of whats give on, because they've already worked on it. Good luck.Electrical problem with car?If all they charged you was $400 to track down who knows what kind of electrical mess you got off real cheap.

    You likely have more blown fuses. Take it back to the same shop and if your lucky they will replace the fuses for free as part of the previous repair.

    If you jump start most cars wrong now-a-days you usually have to buy a computer that costs well over $1000!Electrical problem with car?he screwed you. go to another garage

    Wat are the new systems thats changed?

    I know about kers but don't really understand how they work e,g when they brake they recharge a battery that then boost the engine?

    anyother changes that someone who is informed can put in easy to understand terms ty.What has changed so much in this seasons car to see Hamilton and Ferrari struggle?New regulations have been implemented in 2009, which included different aerodynamic solutions aimed at improving overtaking to give fans a better show. Also a new technologically advanced system (KERS) has been introduced, but optional, not mandatory, for teams in 2009. I will explain KERS later on. However, the main part of your question as to why Ferrari and McLaren are not so competitive has to be attributed to the interpretation of the new regulations. You may have heard of the diffuser issue this season. In very simple words, one of the rules was made to have a flat bottom part of the car to limit downforce and speed and also preventing an air vortex behind the car thus allowing easier overtaking. But the rules were not written very well and some team found a loophole in those rules which allowed them to legally create a double-decker diffuser which actually increased downforce and speed and made overtaking difficult. All that in contrast to the spirit of the regulations, but perfectly legal. McLaren and Ferrari did not exploit that loophole and they found themselves behind in performance. A court case was brought up to determine the legality of those double-decker diffusers and the verdict was that they were legal. At that point the teams without the special diffusers had to start thinking of catching up and modify their cars to exploit that aero solution. This is probably the main reason for Ferrari and McLaren being behind. There are other reasons as well (reliability, etc.).

    KERS: It stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System and was introduced by the FIA to direct the Formula 1 engineering community towards developing greener technologies. Kinetic energy is energy stored in motion and can be thought of as the energy that is required to stop that motion. For example, stopping a bicycle, a car or a train is all about removing its kinetic energy.

    Most commonly kinetic energy is removed using friction brakes, turning the kinetic energy into heat energy that goes towards warming up our planet that little bit more. With KERS, that energy is not lost but stored somewhere to be used to drive the car - that somewhere could be in a battery (chemical energy) in a flywheel (mechanical), in an accumulator (hydraulic) and in many others ways too. This stored energy can then be reused to give extra power to the engine with the regulations allowing maximum KERS power of 60kW and energy release of 400kJ in any one lap. In simple terms this means 60kW for a little over 6 seconds to boost the car each lap.

    KERS needs more than just energy storage to be a complete system - it needs devices to translate the energy between its various forms of kinetic, electrical and chemical. This energy translation comes from an electric motor-generator unit (MGU) which can turn the kinetic energy of the car into electrical energy and vice versa.

    However, such translation devices normally weigh in the region of 50kg and require a lot of space: two things which Formula 1 teams go to great lengths to avoid. It was therefore paramount that the MGU weighed as little as possible.

    What does KERS mean for the fans?

    Well, the additional 60kW boost (which equates to 80HP), limited to 400kJ per lap, will reduce lap times by between 0.2-0.3 seconds and, there are clear benefits in using the system from a standing start. But to get the most from KERS, the whole system needs to be as lightweight and compact as possible; otherwise this advantage can quickly disappear. The weight of each team's solution is therefore a closely guarded secret, but when you consider that every 10kg of unnecessary weight can cost 0.35 seconds per lap, it's no wonder so many cars and drivers have been on diets over the winter.

    In reality, though, there are other more subtle effects that get in the way of achieving the theoretical 0.2-0.3 second lap time reduction, such as weight distribution, not just longitudinally (front to rear) but also vertically. It would be easy to lose all of the KERS lap time potential if these points are not well considered. But, provided you can settle upon the ideal solution and get the gearing of your car right, the 60kW boost to the engine should aid overtaking, at least between KERS cars and non-KERS cars. Of course, it's still in the earliest stages of development and as the teams learn how to optimize KERS as a racing tool, the advantages are likely to become more apparent as the year unfolds.

    Safety and reliability of KERS are also paramount issues not yet optimized by the teams who are using the system (Ferrari, McLaren, BMW and Renault).What has changed so much in this seasons car to see Hamilton and Ferrari struggle?The basics are a taller and thinner rear wing and a wider front wing, also most winglets are banned for this year, all of this reduces mechanical load on the car and cleans the air flow behind the car as they have smoother lines, this makes overtaking easier, the reason the FIA want this is because they want more exciting races, not precessions.

    Also the introduction of KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) which stores energy when the cars brake, meaning that cars fitted with the system have a 6.6 sec boost per lap which the drivers can access using the 'boost' button on the steering wheel. This is all to help overtaking. The disadvantages of KERS is that it is heavy and its presence masses up the balance of the cars, also they are quite large so the fuel tank size must be reduced so that it can be accommodated.

    Go to www.formula1.com which has guides to the rule changes and season preview stuff and information about technical issues on cars, including a look at the diffuser row.

    hop this helps, bit of an essay i know, soz.What has changed so much in this seasons car to see Hamilton and Ferrari struggle?You have already got the answer to your question, but I just felt like joining the party :P

    The specific reason that Mclaren and Ferrari are struggling is that they were still developing their cars up until the last 3 races of 2008. This meant that they had not had the full force of the team working on the car, and therefore they were behind on development. Only a little behind compared to some teams, but miles behind Brawn who began their development at the beginning of 2008. So I don't think that it is that the teams couldn't handle the changes on the cars, but they just didn't have the time to act upon them well enough.

    How can a woman find a honest, and reliable mechanic?

    I drive a lexus truck, I know because of the name its considered luxury. But lexus are nothing more than an upgraded toyota. Here's my problem because its a lexus mechanics use that to their full advantage and over charge me for minor problems. My battery died and when it did it took a few fuses with it. When I called the dealership to fix it they want me to tow my car to them and pay them $250 to change my battery and replace some fuses. Now I don't know much about cars but I did some research and for the parts it comes to $90. why are they charging me an extra $160 dollars for labor. thats ridiculious!! If I can't trust the people who sold me the car, how can I trust anyone else?How can a woman find a honest, and reliable mechanic?You can't. It's standard practice in our %26quot;post modern%26quot; world to %26quot;charge what the market will bear%26quot;.

    In %26quot;the old days%26quot; (yes, I still remember those days) you could trust the professional to look out for your interests so you wouldn't have to learn his field of expertise to be sure you weren't being taken advantage of. But now, public school graduates are applying the relativistic ethics they were taught in the absence of Biblical principles and what we end up with is graft and gouging at every turn.

    I've solved my problem by using independent vendors for everything.

    If I need a battery, I use the Interstate battery people. They'll also do starters and alternators.

    If I need any chassis work, I use Pearson Alignment for brakes, u-joints, alignment and front end parts.

    For tires I go to Wal-Mart and buy Goodyears.

    For exhaust work, Midas offers a lifetime guarantee. I haven't needed a muffler since I decided to use them, but that's my plan at present.

I would think your best bet would be to ask around and find a well know service garage.How can a woman find a honest, and reliable mechanic?The first thing I do with a car is get a repair manual. When a problem arises I look it up and then go to a mechanic with a bit of knowledge on what I think might be wrong. I had mechanics in NC that did an awesome job for me but had to keep on them and watch fees costs etc.How can a woman find a honest, and reliable mechanic?Word of mouth is sometimes the best way---talk to friends , neighbors, co-workers, people at church or your minister, nurses or doctors, whoever has similiar vehicle to yours in a parking lot, local BBB or AAA. This site has a lot of car info and reader recommended shops--http://www.cartalk.com/content/mechx/

    You've got two two problems to overcome--being a woman, some shops will think you don't know much about cars and maybe you don't but do some research on a problem before giving the ok to fix---call some other shops for a competetive quote on any repairs and ask lots of questions....ask for any old parts back and always request an estimate before authorizing any repairs---will give you time to check out the prices. Second problem is because you drive a Lexus, shops will assume if you have plenty of money to afford a vehicle like that, you can afford a higher labor rate or more profit on parts. Most car repairs like your battery problem can be handled by a regular garage and need no special equipment to fix...stick with a local shop and get to know the mechanic or owner well. Customer loyalty is much more important to them then a dealer shop, a local shop has a much smaller customer base to make a living off of. But some small shops are just as greedy so beware. When you do find someone that's trustworthy, competent and honest, make sure to show your appreciation and give them a good reference when you can.How can a woman find a honest, and reliable mechanic?learn to change it yourself. I don't think dealers are trying to rip you off. Most dealers charge $140/hr in my area and minimum amount that dealer charge is 1 hour labor (which means even if it takes 10 minutes, they have to charge for 1 hour labor)

    2002 BUICK REGAL LS, NOT SUPERCHARGED WITH A 3800 MOTOR....CAR WON'T START BUT WILL TURN OVER AND CRANK.?

    Hi, I have a serious problem. I have a 2002 buick regal ls, with a 3800 motor. Hope that helps....My car willnot start. It cranks but wont start up, trying to start I ran down the battery and bought a new 1 and still no. I have recently got a 02 sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, mass air flow sensor and lastly a fuel pressure regulator. Also had a minor tune up, i had the wires and spark plugs changed. Now car was towed to mechanic and he said spark plugs not getting spark, what??? I need some serious help, short on cash, spent 1, 000$ already on car for past problems and car worst. No service engine light on. My car use to just be hard to start up after it sat awhile and when it do it would shut off on me while driving, no matter where or how fast i was going. Now I came out and car just wont start at all. Mechanic sparyed engine with starter fluid and still nothing so the fuel problem is ruled out. PLEASE HELP.....CAN'T AFFORD FOR MECHANICS TO GUESS ON MY CAR, ALREADY COST ME ENOUGH SO FAR DOING THAT AND CAR EVEN WORSE. THANKS IN ADVANCE.2002 BUICK REGAL LS, NOT SUPERCHARGED WITH A 3800 MOTOR....CAR WON'T START BUT WILL TURN OVER AND CRANK.?Its funny how no one jumps on the hard questions.

    The electrical system is very difficult and complicated to diagnose. I've seen the main connectors on the underside of the fuse box loosen up enough to make the engine not start. It could also be the crank sensor,cam sensor,ignition control module,or any number of power wires or grounds. I could write for an hour and not be able to get your engine running. Your best bet,if your going to tackle this yourself,is to go to the parts store and buy a repair manual for your car.Sorry and Good Luck.

    How to change a headlight?

    The headlight burned out on the driver's side of my '96 Toyota Corolla. Does anyone know how to change it? Does the battery need to be removed? We tried removing a couple of screws to detach the lamp from the car, but that didn't work. It looks like there may be a couple of bolts that require a wrench to remove them - do those need to be taken off? This is quite frustrating! My car battery is low?

    It read 10 amps when i hooked it up to the tester. I hooked it up to a 6/12V battery tester/ charger for about an hour. I then tested it again and it read 40 amps now. When I got my oil changed a few months ago they told me it was getting low. How much longer do you think i can get by? How does a solar panel system store energy?

    In specific, can a 40 watt solar panel store 100 watts in a battery. Also what is the difference between volts and watts. Another question was that can I was a cigarette lighter power adapter from a car to change the voltage from DC to AC. How does a solar panel system store energy?Seems like your watts, volts and amps confusion has been handled. I'll tackle the headline question.

    Some solar panel systems store energy and some don't.

    One type of system has no storage capacity at all, hooks up directly to your meter (and the power grid) and delivers power to your house as long as it is generating electricity. Extra capacity is sent to the utility and the home owner's account usually gets credited.

    The second type takes any excess capacity and stores it on site. This is done in a battery array. Although one university professor in NJ is doing it with hydrogen.How does a solar panel system store energy?They don't, the only way to store the power they produce is in batteries.

    Battery capacity isn't measured in watts they're measured in volts and amps, multiply volts x amps and you get watts. Watts is a term used to measure electrical usage, volts is the amount of electricity passing through a conductor, and amp is the amount of pressure behind the electricity, like the number of gallons of water going through a hose and the amount of pressure behind it. You need what's called an inverter to change DC to AC.How does a solar panel system store energy?%26gt;can a 40 watt solar panel store 100 watts in a battery%26lt;

    Yes.

    Not that a question like this can really be answered here, a volt is sort of the electrical equivalent to pressure in a pipe whereas watt is a unit of measure for energy.

    The last part of your question is clearly screwed up, but I think you are asking can a cigarette lighter from a car be changed from DC to AC.

    The device that does that is an inverter, so yes, but you aren't going to be able to get lots of power for a cig lighter either...How does a solar panel system store energy?I think booboo made a booboo-- got your volts %26amp; amps mixed up.

    There should be a round rubber seal at the back or plastic cover

    Once these are removed you should be able to see the bulb and retaining clip.

    And there is no need to disconnect the battery while you do it.How to change a headlight?If you still have your owner's manual, it's definitely in there. (Very funny, a couple weeks ago, we changed the headlight to my boyfriend's -- surprise -- '96 Toyota Corolla, and we used the manual.) Unfortunately, I can't remember all the details, but I'll tell you what I do recall.

    The right (passenger side) headlight is very easy to change. You just have to unhook the cable/wire leading to the headlight, twist the bulb to unlock it, pull it out, put the other one in, twist to secure, rehook the cable, and you're set. The left (driver side) one, however, requires you to take out a part -- air filter, perhaps. It's not difficult, just requires more work. If the bolts you're referring to are on the inside of the front of the car, no, you don't have to unscrew them.

    How to install a Sirius radio in 2003 Mini?

    I have recently purchased a Sirius satellite radio. I had no problems hooking it up in my Honda. I recently however got a 2003 Mini Cooper and now I cannot get the radio to work. I can set up the antenna and everything, but when I plug into the cigarette lighter, I don't get power to the radio. I even recently had to change the battery - the car still had original battery - and tried again hoping there would be more power from the battery and still have no power. How to keep amp from draining car battery for 05 altima?

    I have an 05 altima, I just bought a system for my car, i have a 15 in sub (i don't know the watts), a 10in sub (1600w), and a two channel amp (800w/300w).

    Now the other night every time the bass hit, my lights would dim, so I changed songs to something less bass-y. The lights were fine. Within 3 days of having my system put in, my battery had to be jumped because it drained. the wire is connected from the amp to the battery (I know that shouldn't be the way it should be installed)

    How can I make it so that the system doesn't drain my battery? What are capacitors and are they necessary? Please explain to me like I am a 5 year old because I have no idea how to read car-audio lingo.

    What is the best way to play music without draining the battery? I listen to mostly rock, but when I listen to rap that is when the subs are being used. What is the most affordable route I can take on this situation?How to keep amp from draining car battery for 05 altima?Since you say you have the wire connected from the amp to the battery, I take it your amp is always on even when the car is off. On your amp there should be a spot for a %26quot;remote wire%26quot; this wire should be connected to a 12 volt source in your car that turns off when the car does. The most common 12 volt source to connect to is the power wire for your radio. If you take the radio out, there should be a red wire (almost always red). Splice this wire and connect the remote wire to it as well.

    If your wiring is already set up so the amp turns off when the car does, check your power wire from the battery to the amp and make sure there isn't any bare wire touching metal. If there is, that would drain the battery.

    For your lights, there isn't a true way to prevent them from dimming but a capacitor will help.

    A capacitor is designed to %26quot;stiffen%26quot; the voltage coming from the battery. So you don't lose power. Every time the sub pounds is pulls power pretty hard.

    The capacitor stores power to allow the pull from the sub to happen without losing voltage.

    After reading Rick G's comment, I had to edit mine and say he isn't completely wrong those are options but highly unnecessary for your system.

    And I completely disagree with a capacitor being a waste of money. It does not put more strain on the alternator at all. It puts no more strain on the alternator than just the battery alone. All that happens is power goes to the battery which then goes to the capacitor. The capacitor does NOT pull power from the battery. It's basically a reserve of power with the capability of having larger amounts of power being pulled.

    Capacitors will save your alternator in the long run. With your system I think you would be fine with just a 1 or 2 farad capacitor. No need for me to explain what that means but lets just say it's enough for the amount of power your running.

    A Capacitor won't help the drain of your battery if your amp is always on. Make sure you wire it up to turn off when the car does.

    Whoever's giving the thumbs down are being a little arrogantHow to keep amp from draining car battery for 05 altima?do what joe said. a more powerful battery would help with your lights dimming. also, upgrade your ground wires.How to keep amp from draining car battery for 05 altima?listen i am not going to bash the other answers, but i must say i completely disagree. first in my opinion, capacitors are a waiste of money, and so would be a second battery. why because they get their power for charging from the same place your amp does, the alternator. adding more things to charge will only be harder on your alternator and actually might make things worse.

    The obvious fix is a high output alternator but they are costly and might not be what you want to do. there are a couple less expensive options that may work for you.

    1: do the big three upgrade. this is a addition of 3 wires that help the alternator work more efficiently...

    2. there are custom pulleys that can replace the factory ones on your alternator. think of it as changing gears on a bike. i makes the alternator work a bit harder, creating a bit more output, but be aware this will shorten the life of the alternator. But if you need a new one for the stereo anyway your really not loosing anything...

    hope that helps.How to keep amp from draining car battery for 05 altima?i had the same problem in my 07 impala, i would put the volume up and the car lights dimmed a lot so wat i had to do was put another battery in the trunk for just the amp because the battery in the car cant handle giving power to the car and the amp, the amp requires a lot of power which the car battery doesnt have so it causes the lights to dim.a capacitor is supposed to help the amp get more power and take less power from the battery but it rlly doesnt help so i would recommend to put another battery in tha trunk for just tha amp, you could go to any car audio shop and tell them that you want a seperate battery for just your amp and they could help you and tell you what you need and how much it will cost

  • How do you change a headlight bulb in a 1998 toyota corolla?

    My internet skills have failed me. I am trying, without success, to simply change a headlight bulb in my car. I cannot find a website that tells me how to do it. I had to remove my battery and a fuse box just to get to both of them. My 89 Chevy is so simple!!!How do you change a headlight bulb in a 1998 toyota corolla?You are on the right track. You remove the bulb from inside by twisting the mount. Just follow the wires to the bulb. Be careful not to touch the glass of the new bulb since oils on your hand can cause it to explode; they get that hot.

    Car battery replaced, but quetsion about alternator?

    Hello, I had a car (1999 Camaro) jumped and brought to Menikie. They tested the battery and said it was dead. They replaced the battery and and the car worked.

    They checked the battery with some unknown device to me and they said that the stick was moving around back and forth.

    they told me this means that the alternator needs to be changed.

    -

    are they taking me for a ride or are they right. I have a voltmeter on the dash in my car and if that was the same test they used, my stick on the voltmeter does go back and forth a bit, but never in the red zone.

    they did say that the cra had 100,000 miles and the alternator needed to go.

    so what's the story. How long until drive unitl/or if I have a problem?Car battery replaced, but quetsion about alternator?My best guess from what you said is that one or more of the diodes in your Alternator is blown. Alternators produce alternating current (back and forth), whereas cars use direct current (one direction). Think of alternating current like positive and negative energy. The job of the diodes is to let through the positive energy, but block the negative energy.

    You could get it checked for free at Autozone or the like, but from what I've heard,they often don't check for this. To check for this specific thing, all that's needed is an AC (alternating current) Volt-Meter, which is different than the one in your car.

    I suggest you ask your friends and neighbors if they know a good local independent mechanic shop, and have them check for that specifically. Shouldn't cost much, and they may waive the testing fee if you have them repair it.Car battery replaced, but quetsion about alternator?Go to Auto Zone, and get another FREE test. This will verify. You probably DO need a new alternator and VOLTAGE REGULATOR. Many times, the battery goes bad from an internal short in the alternator. They sometimes need to be replaced together, or so my local alternator shop tells me.Car battery replaced, but quetsion about alternator?If you have put in a new battery, and the voltage is rising and falling then the alternator is at fault. It needs to be about 14.5 Volts.Car battery replaced, but quetsion about alternator?if the battery keeps going dead then it,s probably the alternator not charging the battery.

    How long will a car battery last running a tv and a game system?

    This would be with the ignition in the acc position. If I need to change something in order to do this please tell me how or post a link.How long will a car battery last running a tv and a game system?the more batteries you add the longer you add the longer it will last. But adding more batteries is just pointless just turn your car on for 5 or 10 min every once in a while so ur alt can charge your battery. But i would not play it for any longer than 30 min or so without turning my car on to charge my battery back up.How long will a car battery last running a tv and a game system?There is a way to calculate an approximate time but you'd need to know the Ah (ampere/hour) of the battery and current draw (amperes) of all equipment.

    You will also need an inverter. 120 volt AC devices won't run from a 12 volt DC battery. The inverter should be big enough to handle the current of all connected devices.How long will a car battery last running a tv and a game system?NOT LONG.How long will a car battery last running a tv and a game system?Immm goonna out on a Limb here....If i had to guess without any particular formula or equation.Well,most small tv's around 19 inch draw in the ranges of 2 to 3 amps.I would imagine a small screen would be between .7 and 1.7.Giving the worst scenario which would be 3 amps(TV) plus 4 amps(the game console).....totalling 7 amps.

    7 amps alone would be a great CHARGE.....so draining at that rate would be around 1hr before your battery gets to low to start vehicle.You need to leave enough power to start vehicle,otherwise you can probably go for a 1/2 hr longer or more.DEPENDING ON THE BATTERY.Im guessing for an larger(truck type) battery.

    Now if you had a deep cylce battery it would last even longer.

    This is a Complete guess without the actual number equations.

    Can a motor be locked up without noticing anything going bad?

    I have a Ford Escort LX 97. I left the dome light turned on for 8 hrs and when I tried to start my car back it worked but I needed a couple of tries (so the battery was low I presume).

    I drove for 2hrs and the day after I couldn't start my car.

    Jumpstarting worked fine. I got my battery tested and it said battery perfect. Two days after I couldn't jump start the car again.

    I towed the car to a mechanic and he said my motor is locked up and basically I have to change car. He said he cant know the cause because he doesn't know the history of the car but he suspects no oil in the engine,

    I never noticed any leaks and I changed oil recently.

    Is it possible to lock up an engine without noticing it? How could I have driven till home with a locked engine?

    Better tow the car somewhere else before throwing it away?

    Thanks a lot for the help.Can a motor be locked up without noticing anything going bad?Sounds fishy....you can check the oil level to see if it's low or not and there should be evidence of a major leak....usually, a car that's really low on oil should set off a low oil pressure warning light for some time before it locks up, it will also make ticking sounds from no oil getting to the lifters before it gets to the point of locking up. I'd get a second opinion. If you have a no crank situation, it could be a bad neutral safety switch, starter, cables or ignition switch too. Mileage?

  • Why does my car not (or hard to) start in Cold (<33F) ?

    It is 1996 Honda Accord. It works excellent except for the problem. I have changed a new battery and spark plugs. But the problem is still there. The check-engine-light is always on when it happens (even I just turn the key but do not start the car and wait for more than 30 seconds). Is it an ECM problem? If so, how to solve it? Many thanks.t Why does my car not (or hard to) start in Cold (%26lt;33F) ?If you installed a new battery, check the charge to make sure it is fully charged. Even a new battery may get stale from sitting on the shelf. You might have a loose or faulty connection to the starter solenoid, or the solenoid could be going bad.

    As for the light, it may very well be a problem with your thermostat sticking open. The thermostat is supposed to stay shut to allow the engine to reach proper operating temperature....then open as necessary to keep the temperature even.

    You have to find out the code that is making your Check Engine light come on.

    This happened to me recently with my Land Rover. The light came on and the code indicated that the engine was too cold for too long - not warming up properly.

    Installed a new thermostat and it cleared right up!

    Good luck to you.Why does my car not (or hard to) start in Cold (%26lt;33F) ?The starter maybe? I know when I have had starters go out, the car was always hard to start first.

    And there is a flywheel - the teeth on the starter- that can go out, too.Why does my car not (or hard to) start in Cold (%26lt;33F) ?Some cars have problems with starting in cold weather not usually in that range though I am talking about in the negatives up in North Dakota and the likes where they have to plug their cars up to keep the block warm so it will start. If your Check Engine light is on I would most certainly have it checked to see what code comes on your lucky you own a 96 because that is the first year OBD 2 was used so take it to Advanced Auto they will check for free. If the Check Engine light has nothing to do with the starting issue than I would recommend having the starter checked and replaced if necessary because that if certainly probable.Why does my car not (or hard to) start in Cold (%26lt;33F) ?Not an ecm problem,but one of the sensors feeding it is faulty.Best guess without code reading it would be the intake air temperature sensor,or the coolant temperature sensor.Why does my car not (or hard to) start in Cold (%26lt;33F) ?the battery loses a lot of power when it gets cold. Just because you have a new battery doesn't mean it's a good battery. I did that with my honda and got a Walmart battery... big mistake. It was a piece of crap. You want to get the biggest battery that will fit your car.

    Other than that, it could be a lot of things, but I don't have a lot of time now and your info is kinda limited:

    Some hondas had a problem with the main relay being sensitive to temperature changes. I fixed mine (took the main relay out and re-soldered the solder joints and I never had problems with it again) but that problem was more common with hot temperatures.

    In your case it could be a number of things.

    Main relay not activating fuel pump,

    bad gas (water/ice in the gas) you can buy a fuel additive for this and it takes care of the problem.

    i'm sure there are other things that could cause these symptoms, but I assume you've already done a tune-up with good quality parts. Your car deserves that much.

    How come my car sterero wont turn on?

    Okay i Have a 91 honda accord lx and last week as I was driving my stereo turned off and the battery light was on then the speedeometer on my dashboard stop working and next thing u kno my stereo turned on again and a few minutes later my car turned off. So I changed the starter and eventually that did help but i also had to change my alternator because it was bad so I change it today. Then I turn on my car and everything was working well except the stereo. So why is the stereo not working?How come my car sterero wont turn on?check the fuse if not.........

    well chances are you didnt need to replace any of those things. or at least they have little to do with the radio problem. i have delt with many of these things at the dealership i work at.

    go on all data.com under wirediagrams find the one that will run to the point you need. then comes the hell. oh it will cost about 15$ i believe to print but you can just take a photosnap on your computer to avoid that. then youll need a cheap dvom. you need to trace all the wireing from your powersource tho you radio terminal. some were along the rout of flow the power is grounding out. you may need to soder some new wires.

    also check weather the radio itself functions properly.

    good luckHow come my car sterero wont turn on?Check the fuses

    Please help?!?! (Car Question) Starts ok cold but rough start when warm...?

    Ok here are all the details to this thing going on with my car. First so everyone knows, it is a Chevy Lumina z34 1993 with a dual cam overhead v6 in it, 3.4L. Ok now second we have replaced the air filter, air breather, fuel filter, and have checked all the fuel lines, poured fuel injector cleaner in the car and cleaned battery wires, changed the spark plugs and changed valve cover gasket (different problem, there was oil on the spark plugs for a while so ya hehe). The problem with my car is that it starts decent in the morning when i have let it sit overnight, and also starts good if you start it up right after you shut it off, but if you let it sit for like 2 hours or so then you have to give it gas to help it start (feather the pedal). So everyone knows also, the temperature gauge (inside the car) slowly gets over half (has gotten really hot, up to 260 degrees actually, and i thought it was the thermostat but i don't think this will affect how the car starts will it?) Anyways, then drops back down to a quarter, then slowly rises again and repeats, it doesn't seem normal but idk. Another thing is i filled the car with gas (completely full) and the gas tank leaked about half a gallon of gas and then stopped. (The leak came from underneath the car in the middle, where the gas tank is). Any ideas on what is wrong with it yet? Anybody? If you have anymore questions about info of what I have done with the car, noises it makes or anything like that, just type it up here on the page and I will answer back within a couple hours. TY, please everyone help! So in need of help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please help?!?! (Car Question) Starts ok cold but rough start when warm...?Well to start your seals are leaking. That is how oil got on your spark plugs. If oil is leaking then you probably have low oil. That can be very bad. You must check your oil every time you get gas. You have been lucky up to this point. If you run the oil reservoir too low you will seize the engine, it will freeze and will not work. You either get a new engine or new car. It is worth the two minutes to check the oil.

    Second it sounds like your water or antifreeze is low too. I know everybody is in a hurry these days but you need to take care of the vehicle that takes care of you and keeps you protected.

    Terrible things can happen to you from sheer laziness.

    Picture breaking down in the wrong part of town all alone in the dark. You will wish you took the time.

    Start caring better for your car it will run for more years to come.Please help?!?! (Car Question) Starts ok cold but rough start when warm...?you say it,s hard to start after it warms up? this is just a guess but have the coil tested. if a coil gets too hot then it can break down and hard to start. you say the tank leaks? maybe it,s sucking air from the leak.Please help?!?! (Car Question) Starts ok cold but rough start when warm...?if a car gets too hot it is harder to start until it cools alittle bit then should start fine. you do need to find out where the gas leak is and repair it im sure its not helping the situation at all.

    Can an Insurance company still be held liable for the after affects of a car wreck?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated. My problem is this, In July 2007 A man in a huge truck with a trailer hinge back up out from a parking space, it I saw him and the only thing I could at the time is speed up so he would not hit the middle of my car. He ended up hitting the side bumper and ripped it off. I have A 1999 Cryshler Sebring. It truely was a hard hit. Well the man's insurance did pay to fix the bumper, but now everything keeps going wrong. I did mention it to the person at the shop where we had arranged for the repair. I asked to please give me an estimated how much it would cost to fix it. When the time came, She did not do so and when I asked the lady she gave me a look like there is really something wrong with my car. I give two guys a ride to the bus so they do not have to walk the mile or so and they can attest that my car was running smooth. So many things one after another have gone wrong. I have put over 700.00 and still more problems. So my question is what do you think my chances are If I take it to the manufactor and they will rule in my favor. The Insurance Co-ordinator says if they say it was from the accident then they will pay for it. Straight from the start right after the accident my car kept dyeing out, so I had to drive it like a standard car with my feet on the gas and brake at the same time. So in the end , last I have heard there is a short somewhere so I took it to Spitfire and place that specializes in electrical problems and he told me my computer is bad. First of all the things my battery kept dyeing out, my car would not start up in the mornings,I took it to Auto zone and my battery was fat, swollen no good. Bought a new one, then I took it to a man at midas , he said I needed a valve cover gasket and he showed me my spark plugs we filled with oil, fixed that. Now Midas ran a scan and said I had either a bad map sensor or a short. Changed the map sensor the car is still barely running, so then another place said it was a short but had it for two weeks and could not find the short . I would like to know , if the guys Insurance is still on the hook for all the problems I have had with the car since the accident. Now I give these two guys a ride from work each day and they knew there was nothing wrong with my car before the accident. What is the best thing I can do. Many thanks , SylviaCan an Insurance company still be held liable for the after affects of a car wreck?I can offer several opinions here and I hope my answer doesnt offend. I have worked with cars in some way almost all my life. I am now a claims adjuster, and can tell you based on the description of the impact you gave me, I have never of a vehicle suffering from the problems you are having to be related to that type of impact. If you had rear ended someone at high speed enough to crush the front end of your vehicle causing damages to the engine, and electrical components I could see it. But I doubt any shop out there could some how link the problems to the accident.

    Right now in regards to your next step there are two senarios. If you used a shop the insurance company rec. and is part of there program, an insurance company will guar the work the shop did. If you feel these problems are related to the accident start with the adjuster and the shop to attempt to resolve the problem. They should be willing to help since you used one of their shops.

    If however you used your own shop and is not part of the insurance companies preffered shop program, you are own your own with the repairs done by the shop. The insurance company cannot guar their work.

    Good luckCan an Insurance company still be held liable for the after affects of a car wreck?Its hard to prove since you have to show that it was due to the accident and nothing else. since the vehicle is eight years old they could say it had nothing to do with the accident. Also if he hit the rear bumper i doubt you have a chance... the front bumper is your best shot.Can an Insurance company still be held liable for the after affects of a car wreck?The burden of proof is yours. You must prove beyond any doubt that the accident caused all these problems. It will help having only one trusted Mechanic to thoroughly check out your car and assess All damage. Then take this to the insurance company or if needed a lawyer. With the right documentation and a little luck you will get your car fixed properly.

    Good luckCan an Insurance company still be held liable for the after affects of a car wreck?If you signed off on the accident..your high n dry. Always get more than one estimate when dealing with these things.And never limit yourself to the place the insurance company recommends! They are not your friends! Get a free consultation from a lawyer and make sure that when he presents your requests that his fees are included. Also..lawyers in this matter often work off of commission per settlement.Be sure that is the case so that you have no money out of pocket.Have your ducks in a row when you see him..provide receipts(shows dates of repair)a list of witnesses(your friends you ride to work)and an accident report. Good luck.Can an Insurance company still be held liable for the after affects of a car wreck?You have a nine year old vehicle that had a rear bumper damaged. This collision did NOT damage your battery, wiring, sensors, leaky valve covers or computer system. The insurance company is NOT going to pay for any of these items or tune-ups or diagnostic charges. Just suck it up and face the fact that this is normal upkeep for a car.

    Help, I changed battery for remote on my Rover 420 and now it doesn't work?

    I don't know what's going on with the remote for my Rover 420. My remote for the central locking would only work if I held it close to the door, and then it was getting worse where I had to click it loads of times before it would lock and the beeping would stop, to turn off the immobiliser. I can't drive it unless it's locked and then unlocked with the remote, as if I don't it beeps and it doesn't start.

    I went to a car parts shop to get a battery, and they said that they wouldn't fit it for me as with Rover, you have to look in the book you get with the car to do it a certain way.

    As I was worried I would do it wrong, I went into the garage around the corner and asked them if they knew how to fit the battery so it would work, and a young lad put in the battery and then said he didn't know what to do once the battery was in, but luckily I still had the key turned so I didn't have to start the immobiliser again.

    I got home and and removed the key from the ignition, and then read the book about how to fit the battery, so I took it out and put it back in again. I got out the car and locked it with the key in the door, and left it a few mins. The book said to unlock it with the key in the door, then press the lock button a few times to synchronise it, so I did that and nothing happens.

    What am I supposed to do now? Shall I take it to a garage that specialise in Rover?

    Who do I need to phone to get the number so I can over ride the immobiliser so I can drive it until I have the remote sorted?

    I put the battery in correct with the facing out. Help, I changed battery for remote on my Rover 420 and now it doesn't work? Procedure.

    1. Unlock the drivers door using the key.

    2. Ensure all doors, bonnet and boot are shut, and if Central Locking is

    fitted, make sure both front doors are unlocked.

    3. Press the PLIP key (Lock button) four times quickly, until the vehicle

    locks are enabled.

    ENGINE IMMOBILISATION

    The engine immobiliser is set as soon as the Perimetric alarm is enabled,

    which inhibits the engine electrical circuits. Immobilization can only be removed

    using the PLIP key or the emergency access code (EKA). If the car

    is not locked using the PLIP key, the immobiliser will be activated 20 seconds

    after the ignition is switched off, and the drivers door opened. The

    engine can be re-immobilized by pressing the unlock button on the PLIP

    key.

    How many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?

    i bought an electric 2000 lb winch, and i want to connect a converter to it so i can plug it into a normal outlet instead of hauling a 12v car battery to it! so i am trying to find out what type/ size of converter to use that would change it from running on dc amps to ac amps.How many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?THE CONVERTER YOUR WANTING AT WILL COST YOU ALOT MORE THEN WHAT YOU GAVE FOR THE WENCHHow many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?One model winch has a 12 v 5.5 HP motor. One HP is 768 watts. Multiply that by 5.5 and you get about 4200 watts. Add 50% for safety from burnout of the coverter and you'll need a 6000 watt converter MINIMUM. Heavier loads on the winch motor can raise the wattage requirements considerably.

    You'll do better by buying a deep cycle battery and have it connected to your truck's charging system through an isolator (so your truck won't drain the winch battery and your winch won't drain the truck battery).How many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?you cannot do that for a few different reasons the outlet in your house is ac voltage and more volts than you want to put through that device. a typical outlet is 11o volts and depending on the circuit breaker, about 20 amps. a typical car battery is only 12 volts and up to 1000 cca (to the starter at least) use a car battery for the power source. i am curious why you are even thinking of using a winch around the house.How many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?There are no AC amps in a 12 volt battery.

    Your winch is designed for 12 volts DC - any AC source, regardless of voltage, is not going to work.

    You need to find out what the amperage draw on the winch is with 12volt DC. You will then need to acquire a 120Volt AC converter to 12 Volts DC with the sufficient amperage output.How many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?Your winch should have come with a current draw chart. Look at the max current draw. Try and find a powersupply to convert the AC to DC. Make shure the output current rating meets or exceeds the winch draw. If you can find one, it will be very expensive $500.00 or more.How many ac amps are in a 12 volt battery?If it's a DC winch, then you need DC to run it. You should use a battery charger to run it, it could be anywhere from 1-20 or more DCamps. Chargers are pretty cheap.

  • How to find sponsor companies to fund my research on quick(5min)charge EV batteries ,by electrolyte change?

    Dear Sir,

    Green cars are practical solutions to green house gas reductions in the future .

    But we need to overcome long lasting problems of electrical cars either by technology or by proper planning .

    I am a 42 years old energitic chemical engineer, oil and gas and energy specialist , and I am really worried about tremendous devestation of our environment by CO2 accumulation.

    In fact we are making money by oil exploration, oil refining , and enjoy driving petrol cars .

    we try to raise our children with higher income of oil engineers but we are producing CO2 to destroy the earth in future by global warming and by tornados of climate changes.

    I believe the key to solve the milage problem of electric cars and HP requirements of them is proper type of heavy duty batteries with quick recharge time with liquid change.

    By this method 300 miles and 3 to 4 minute charging time can be achieved in the fuel stations .....

    Any supporting institute you know to provide fund to complete my research to make these batteries?

    Also %26quot;multiple electric car leasing%26quot; or MECL is a way to use large no, of electric cars in large cities , for taxi service .

    Any one knows of supporting institutes in one large city to provide fund to complete my research to realize this ?

    How would I reset car alarm fob on saab 9-3 convertible, 1999 model?

    I changed the battery now my alarm wont respond to the fob, nothing in my manual about it either?How would I reset car alarm fob on saab 9-3 convertible, 1999 model?The Alarm remote communicates with a control module located under the drivers front seat. The range is typically around 25 feet depending on the type of transmitter that you have. The left button is used to arm or disarm the car. The right button is used to lock or unlock the trunk.

    The battery life is about 3 years under normal use. Use the distance at which the remote functions to determine the battery strength. On the newer cars the SID unit will read %26quot;REPLACE KEY BATTERY%26quot; when the battery warning is activated by the remote. To replace the batteries simply push off the back housing by pressing downwards. On the newer remotes you may have to insert a small pin on the side of the remote housing to release the cover or remove screws on the back side of the remote. Remove the batteries and replace them. Most newer remotes are powered by a 3V lithium battey. You can buy them at radio shack. After the batteries have been changed you must press the remote 5 times in a row to re-activate the remote.How would I reset car alarm fob on saab 9-3 convertible, 1999 model?stand next to the car and keep pressing the unlock button. it may take like 8 times.

    Battery light camry-what's causing it/?

    have a battery -mostly while driving on the freeway but on also comes on at random times on street. It's a 95 toyota camry with 170k miles. Light comes on simultaneously with brake lamp light (icon is that of car with two rear lights radiating). The battery tested poor and I replaced -but the dash light behavior didn't change. Alternator tests as good while in car. I also run a wire from the +ve battery terminal to to the car cabin and monitor the voltage on my multimeter (grounded on cigarette lighter) while I drive -it's measures around about 13.5 V before starting engine then goes to ~14.55 V (very little fluctuation ~+/- 0.04 V) once the engine is started and idle, and goes up to ~14.70 V on the freeway (~14.67 when AC etc turned on). I look at the reading when the battery light comes on but it consistently measures ~14.7 V!

    Aside: I took out the alternator for bench testing at Autozone before changing the battery -Autozone machine failed the alternator on all three aspects in test (including diode, etc) -but I question the reliability of the machine as it basically says my alternator is %26quot;dead%26quot; i.e. fails ALL tests yet it my car works on 14.7 volts! AND passes Autozone in car alternator test! (Was about to buy a new alternator from autozone from Autozone when I decided to let them test the new first on the same machine-but new alternator also %26quot;failed%26quot; the bench test-this makes me believe something is wrong with the bench testing!)

    Anyway, I with figuring the lights: brand new 750 CCA battery, alternator producing spec voltage even while battery light on. If the it's the sensor problem or grounding how do I proceed? Could it still be a diode malfunction? What would the voltage be like a just one or more diodes in the rectifier malfunction? Help!Battery light camry-what's causing it/?If it's happening mostly while you are driving you may want to think about checking for a loose wire. It is possible and I've seen things like this happen that you hit a bump and your ground (ground wire) is effected. Check for a loose, burned, corroded wire.

    How many LED can be powered off a 12V car battery?

    My friends and I have recently discovered a little hangout spot in the forest that backs onto my house. We're usually out until 2am and it gets quite dark, making it very difficult to walk back. We've come to the conclusion that we can use super bright white LED's to light up a pathway and a little bit around our hangout spot. My question is how many LED's could you power using a 12V battery. I know LED' can't go in parallel because of different tolerances and whatnot, but in series I'm guessing we can power 16 in a row? Then have strings of 16 in parallel to provide more light?

    There is no change of running the power off the mains electricity, it must be battery powered.

    ...any advise would be greatly appreciated.How many LED can be powered off a 12V car battery?You probably won't get 16 LEDs. You will probably only get like 5 or 6 maybe....maybe a bit more or less, but that's a ballpark figure, and it depends on the LEDs as well.

    Where I use to work we use to also use a current-limiting resistor of 10 惟 per string of 5 LEDs. This was not met with factual reasoning however. When questioned, it was stated that it was 'historical'. So, whether they served a purpose or not I don't know. It may have been overkill, but we never, ever blew LEDs and we pulsed them at currents way, WAY over their rating. At that time it was 20 mA max, and pulsed we maintained about 600 mA.

    So, that's my input.

    How many car batteries are needed (rated at 10 V and 100 A) with a mass of 10 kg each to accelerate a car...?

    The car is 1000 kg and can travel from 0 m/s to 50 m/s in 10 s. Thanks for any insight.

    If you're using the formula work = change in kinetic energy, don't you have to add both the mass of the car and the mass of the batteries as well for m in 1/2m(v1-vo)2?How many car batteries are needed (rated at 10 V and 100 A) with a mass of 10 kg each to accelerate a car...?assuming the mass of the car includes that of the batteries. It doesn't say otherwise.

    KE = 陆mV虏

    KE = 陆(1000)(50)虏 = 1.25 MJ

    power = 1.25 MJ / 10s = 125 kW

    Batteries are not rated in amps, but in amp-hours. Skipping that, each battery can deliver 1000 watts or 1 kW, so you need 125 batteries.

    if you assume the weight of the car does not include the batteries, then N = number of batteries.

    1000w x N = 陆(1000+10N)(50)虏 / 10s

    10000N = 2500(500+5N)

    10000N = 1.25e6+12500N

    ?500 = 1.25e6 N

    N is negative, which means this doesn't work.

    With one battery alone and t unknown

    1000 = 陆(10)(50)虏 / t

    t = 12500 / 1000 = 12.5 sec

    in other words, the power of one battery with no other weight cannot accelerate to the desired speed in the desired 10 seconds.

    2000 chevy malibu-battery replaced and now i can't turn on the radio?

    my mechanic changed my battery, which would normally leave all of my preset stations messed up, but when i turned the car on, there was no sound at all. i've tried switching the power button on, but to no avail. i think that this seems strange, as it was working fine before, and i've never turned the radio off. how do i fix this?2000 chevy malibu-battery replaced and now i can't turn on the radio?The following procedure will give you a new code that you can use instead of your personal code. Using this new code, you can “unlock” your radio and then “re-lock” it with a new code if you wish. Prerequisites: The radio must be in LOC mode NOT in INOP mode. Let me explain. If you have activated the Theft-Deterrent feature of your radio and loose power, the radio goes into LOC (theftlock) mode. With the ignition on, you must use the MN and HR buttons to enter you personal code in order to unlock it (The instructions are on page 3-27 in your Y2K Owner’s manual). If you fail to enter the correct code eight (8) times, the radio goes into INOP mode. You have to wait an hour with the ignition on before the radio returns to LOC mode (go for a long drive somewhere).

    Procedure:

    01. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

    02. Hold down the Radio Presets 2 and 3 buttons for six seconds

    03. The radio display changes from LOC to a three-digit number. Write this number down. Don’t take forever, fifteen seconds max before the next step.

    04. Press the AM/FM button

    05. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.

    06. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 03 and the last three digits are form STEP 05

    07. Call 1 800 537 5140

    08. Press 1 then # (pound). You’ll hear “Invalid Code, try again”

    09. Press 139010 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by * (start)

    10. Enter the number from STEP 6 then * (star)

    11. Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice

    12. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

    13. Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the code from STEP 11

    14. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to SEC Your radio is now “un-locked” and usable. The Theft-Deterrent feature is STILL active! If you want to disable it, use the instruction in your Owner’s manual. Use the code from STEP 11 instead of your personal code.2000 chevy malibu-battery replaced and now i can't turn on the radio?Check to see if the radio is connected to the battery and receiving power.2000 chevy malibu-battery replaced and now i can't turn on the radio?Its probably the security system, take it to the dealer to be deactivated, they will charge you though.2000 chevy malibu-battery replaced and now i can't turn on the radio?You'll need to get a code from the dealer, this system is to prevent theft.
